Is regularly texting/phoning someone (not your partner) cheating?
by sacdfan inhello - can i ask you all for your opinions?.
if your partner (husband/wife, gf/bf etc) was phoning and texting someone approx 20 times per day, would you find it unacceptable?
for example, if your wife was texting/phoning another brother (also married) 20 to 30 times a day, would you get suspicious?

My husband makes hundreds of cell phone calls a month for business. They are all approximately 1-3 minutes long. His cell phone bill has always been the same amount, never going over the minutes. When he started getting 300-500 dollar phone bills I looked at the call record. Almost all the calls were to the same number. A new female contractor in a nearby town who did some work for him. The calls were 30-60 minutes long, only about 3 times a day, morning, lunch time, and in the evenings. I never heard these calls, and never met the woman or heard him mention her. I knew instantly he was having an affair. I confronted him and he denied it and turned nasty, but when I told him that all my family and friends believed he was having an affair and they would soon inform the elders, he got scared and went and confessed to the elders before he could be confronted. He was hoping that would get him reproved instead of df'd, and it worked. He was having an affair with one of the elder's daughters.
From the details you provided, I would be 99% sure he was having an affair. Men do not text women they are not interested in 20x a day. They do not usually bond emotionally with women they are not sleeping with or would not like to sleep with if given the opportunity. If he has not already had sex with her, he is on the verge. I would bet he already has.
A little sleuthing tip. The times on the call record when the calls and texts stop and he is not home with you, he is probably spending time with her. Get someone to follow him then or do what I did and just bluff and say you know for a fact he was with her those times (as if you had followed him and saw him). If he says you're crazy, say someone saw them together or something similiar. Tell him you have your evidence to take to the elders. See if your bluff causes him to cave and confess. It worked for me.

ps: I do not consider texting or calling cheating. If the talk is flirtatious and has sexual inuendo, then it is definitely flirting with cheating or planning on cheating and it is still harmful to the relationship and clear boundaries need to be set before it goes any further. I don't agree with the term "emotional affair". People's emotions and feelings are their own business and cannot be controlled or circumscribed by others. However their actual behaviour, such as spending more time and attention talking to friends other than their spouse, being with that person, or actually having sex, can be negotiated and contracted as to what is acceptable and what is not.

Howdie,
Cog is checking in with her annual Merry Christmas to everyone.
I joined Jan 1, 2006 and made a new years resolution to never set foot in a kingdom hall or assembly again. That is the first and only new years resolution I have ever kept!
I guess I'm more of a middle-ager than an old timer but many of the old-timer's were still here when I joined so I got to learn and enjoy from them.
Update on me since I left earlier this year: Going to school full time now, instead of part time. Would like to get my degree before I'm 50!
Husband is divorcing me supposedly because I'm an apostate, but in reality, because he is having an affair with another fine, upstanding JW.
I'm moving into my own place on New Year's Eve and I'm going to get on with enjoying the rest of my life, sans JW's, sans husband, and sans anyone else who drags me down.
I'm missing Dansk, who passed away last Christmas. I guess he proved it's true, only the good die young. If we learned a lesson from his passing, it is that life is too short to spend it enslaved to the will of others. It is for loving, laughing and living, right now, because the present moment is all we are guaranteed to have! Rest in peace Ian.
I am blessed to have met real friends from this forum who live near enough for me to hug in person, Hillary Stepp and Belbab and his wife (who just invited me for the most fabulous Christmas dinner!)
All in all, I think it will be a better year than the one before.
Happy New Year Everyone!

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,When I first came to JWD, I had been watching the JW play for 40 years already. I knew every angle, every scene change, every player and every line. I knew them from the stage and from the audience.
Still, I was only seeing the world from one perspective, the JW perspective. When I was in my comfortable seat, watching, I felt squeezed in a corner box until I couldn't breathe or move. When I was on stage I felt constrained by my role.
I came to JWD to get a broader perspective, to help me see the bigger picture. Now, I think I know the "ex-JW" play from every angle as well.
I know my posts have rubbed a few people the wrong way. That was never my intention. If I was trying to accomplish anything with my arguments it was just to shine the spotlight on the stage from a different angle. Sometimes I even argued against people and positions I actually agreed with just for the sake of balancing the extremes somewhat. I tend to play devil's advocate in real life too, which doesn't endear me to many (JW's especially!)
I hate good-byes, good-bye threads and "my favorite poster" threads, but I've learned so much from some posters here that I'm going to play my own devil's advocate and write one anyway. Consider it an appreciation thread.
Simon and Angharad: By providing this forum you've helped innumerable people on their way out of the JW's just to make a little sense of it all. You've sacrificed a lot of time and personal privacy to do it. Without the producers, the play would never go on. So...thanks.
Belbab and Mrs. Belbab: You invited me to your home and for Christmas dinner when I thought I didn't have a friend or family member left in this world. I know you've done the same for others too. What warm and hospitable people you are.
Hillary Steppe: On the slim chance you're lurking, you were, hands down, the most intelligent and funny poster on this board. To the king of wit and wisdom, I say: I'm honored to call you friend, both on and off the forum. As for who pays the ferryman? We all do.
Ilbh: Always gentle, always kind, you are a true gentleman and true friend in every sense of the word.
There are so many other's I owe a debt of knowledge to. Some are still here: Lady Lee, Blondie, Leiolaia, Narkissos. Some have made their exits: Kid-A, Almost Atheist, James Thomas.
For all the others who ever pm'd me to say thanks or just to chat, I've learned something from you all and it wasn't always what I expected. So, thanks for showing me the view from your seats. Time for me to find another show...

Go piss up a rope you condescending moron.
Excellent idea, Mary! I think pissing up a rope would be a much better use of my time than continuing to post on a forum where the quality of discussions lately has seemed to deteriorate to angry, unbalanced rants and ad hominem attacks.
Cog (off to piss up a rope)
ps: Blondie, I just want to say, I've always enjoyed your posts. You've helped inform many people on this forum, including myself, with your careful research. You've also consistently refused to jump in with the mob and get involved in personal attacks. You're a class act all the way!
Lady Lee: Ditto!
Simon and Angharad: If you see this, thanks for the forum. I've learned a lot over the last 3 years. It's been quite a ride!
